Talk about a crazy week. I am not one to watch the news, so maybe others saw this coming, but when the wind hit Roberts campus- I thought it came out of no where. I do not think anyone could have anticipated just how strong and impactful the wind on Wednesday would be. It was unbelievable. Adding to the bizarre nature of the wind- it was a warm day outside. Despite the “breeze,” people were walking around in shorts and t-shirts.
The destruction that the fallen trees and and telephone posts was similarly- unbelievable. As news kept arising of fires, lost power, broken glass, fallen houses, live wires, etc. I did not know how to react. Part of me was tempted to panic, the other parts wanted to either enjoy the wind or ignore it because in my mind it was not that big of a deal. Once I saw the destruction on campus, however, I realized just how much work was going to be needed to fix what the wind had just destroyed.
Thank you to all the workers who have been working non-stop to fix this mess, restore power, and help the rest of us get our lives back in order.
